CRIME IN THE NAME OF “HONOUR”

In India the Big ‘C’ stands not so much for Cancer as for CRIME. As the country is growing, Crime rate is also increasing in the country. One of the heinous Crime that I have seen prevailing in India still is crime in the name of Honour i.e. HONOUR KILLING.. Honour killing is a heinous crime where a family kills his family member for bringing shame to the family. Generally it is practiced when a girl of a family desires to marry by her own choice , or marries a boy of another caste . Therefore, this is the only crime where your enemies don’t hurt you ,the murders are themselves the one who loved you with pure heart i.e. your own family. Honour killings can be found mostly in the villages of Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and even Bihar. In India we can see more than 1000 Honour killings per year.  

  

Though the world is getting modernized, but the thinking of people in Rural areas is still the same. They believe that it is against the Honour of the family. This tradition was horribly seen during the partition years when family killed women for their honour.what kind of Honour is this, when a  family themselves kill their family member? There is a misconception in people’s mind that it is practiced only in rural areas but actually there are many cases of Honour killing that happened in metropolis areas. One of the major cases in India is Manoj- Babli’s Honour killing case which took place in June 2007 where the killing was ordered by khap panchayat, which is custom based council among the jaats. The Head of khap panchayat was received a life time sentence for the orders he gave . where after, supreme court ordered ban of these khap panchayats.Honour killing prevails not just in India but in many parts of the world such as Europe, Canada, Pakistan etc. Honour killings are rare to  in South India, and the western Indian states of Maharashtra and Gujarat. There have been no honor killings in West Bengal in over 100 years, due to the influence and activism of social reformists like Vivekananda, Ramakrishna, Vidyasagar and Raja Ram Mohan Roy. Due to increasing number of Honour killings in 2010, Supreme Court issued notice to central government to take some action against this social evil.

Therefore the onus lies on the shoulders of youth to raise their voice against this social evil. There is need to change mentality of people i.e. to ask parents to accept their child’s happiness because it is they who have to lead their life.

Expression of love

I am rose, a flower which blooms and wilts.  I am symbol of love all over the world and spread happiness, love, passion etc. I am rich in fragrance and beauty.

Since it is festive season and atmosphere of love, I am full of happiness and feel proud that I am important and can be seen all around in the flower shops, on cards , with teddy bears, Archies, streets, in the hands of lovers etc. I feel so good to see that whole shop of my owner is surrounded by me and every person who enters the shop takes me with him. I express feelings, emotions, spark the imagination and touch the heart of so many people.

Earlier I was a small bud in a garden. I was watered everyday by the gardener and felt very safe in the garden. Then one day, when I was bloomed, I was tossed and swirled and then in baskets to a pickup truck. I was in fear of being harmed the way I was carried, all the way long from garden to flower shop or archies gallery.

Now, when I am in a flower shop, people pick me up and I can see grin on their face but I am mournful when I watch them judging me .This is so disgrace to me that I am judged all time by my size,colour,shape and fragrance.

I assume different meanings with different moods. My colour changes with my mood. When I am in mood to express love passion and beauty, I go red. When I express love at first sight I am lavender. Pink  to appreciate someone. White , showing purity, spirituality and  peace .Yellow  for friendship and orange for expressing feeling of new relationship.

 I spread happiness among people, bring smile on their face and help them in expressing their love. I have to agree that I am very beautiful and my entire species is a beauty to reckon with. You know when people describe me as a combination of elegance, beauty and boldness all wrapped in one, I feel as though I am in the seventh heaven. I am a small delicate flower and people call me a “charm” which has a superb aesthetic appeal which can cast a spell and bound a person with its magical touch .My owner also feels happy to be with me as he is earning lot of pennies and filling his pockets this week.

I am famous all over the world. I am native to UK. I am official national floral emblem of UK and was adopted as a symbol of peace during the time of wars related to me. Me and tulips are competitors and we both are symbol of love. At times its quite disappointing when people pick up tulips and leave me at a side because they find me ugly.

 I can be seen all around. Its not just that I am on pedestal during the festive season but my presence can be even felt during off season. I cant felt through my fragrance in perfumes , my petals can be seen in spas, for gift wraps, for spicing up fruit salads etc. I am also trademark of Archies ltd.

I feel gloomy when people don’t care about me. After expressing their love through me, the just don’t pay attention on me. They pluck out my petals and throw me in dustbin. My heart starts burning with fear and this is the time where my end comes.

Varieties of roses can be found in northern hemisphere . rose is official national emblem of US .since its valentines week, demand for roses have started increasing.so it is but natural to see streets full of roses.everywhere there is an atmosphere of love and passion.rose has inspired people for generations. To people,beauty of rose is a symbol of love.its delicate petals as the caress of a loved one,its elegance is touch of life itself .

Rose is a flower which is when given to a loved one,itself exprsses the feelings,sparks the imagination nad touches the heart of  so many people.There is no other flower in the world which makes a person’s day , brings two people together and symbolize the grief felt at passing of somebody loved. People have different ways to express their love through rose. Some of them just go to the flower store and pick up a bouquet and give it to the one they love. Some of them grow roses themselves,some attach their soul to each and every flower in that bouquet.roses can be given to anyone.infact,there ae various rose occasions in US like rose day,mother’s day, valentines day etc. But roses have a deeper meaning attached with lovers.for lovers, rose is little bit of their heart given to another or say which beats for another . rose is a small delicate flower having a deep meaning , which can take anyone’s breath away.

Roses are found in wide variety of colours and aroma.every rose has a symbolic meaning attached with it. Red rose symbolizes love,passion,beauty  and is most popular of all roses.lavender rose expresses enchantment,elegance and is also given to another person to express love at first sight.pink roses show appreciation for someone.

White rose is symbol of peace,purity and spirituality. Yellow roses are associated with brightness,happiness and friendship.orange roses expresses feeling of new relationship.

Therefore,roses are the best to gift to your loved ones as it has superb aesthetic appeal and charm which can caste a spell and bound a person with its magical touch.

HUMAN TRAFFICKING

Human trafficking is an illegal trade of human beings for the purpose of reproductive slavery,sexual exploitation,forced labor or a modern day form of slavery.it usually mean the organised movement of people,usually women ,between countries and within countries for sex work.
It feels very shameful to say that human trafficking is also practised at a place like india where we talk about oneness,brotherhood,love ,affection,peace etc.India has a huge population and due to this many people in India are below poverty line.the smugglers and traffickers promise them a ray of  light in their life,jobes as domestic servants, film world or in factories.they justkeep them in such illusions and involve them in forced prostitution.the people who are exploited more are the poor helpless people who lack job opportunities,mentally disturbed.

Its not just that smugglers force the people but some parents sell their children because they think them as a burden.it has now,become  a social issue which needs to be combated and the onus lies on the shoulders of youth who have enough potential to raise their voice because trafficking is the greatest loss to the dignity of human personality.

Awareness can be made through media,being the most important part of everyone's lives.even a single step taken by each of us can help in combatting like nourishing our house maids properly because they form major cause for human trafficking.so lets work for a better future of the country and turn things into reality..
